The Cobra S3 Iron Line

The S3 iron product line can be viewed as having three tiers. The Max clubs—a standard set and a women’s set—are created for maximum forgiveness. The S3 irons and women’s irons are designed to optimize performance all around. And the S3 Pro Irons is a set for the better golfer.

Designed for mid- to high-handicap players who want to improve their game, these clubs are designed for high launch and maximized forgiveness, with a large profile and wide sole. There are Seniors and Lite sets for men, and all men’s and women’s clubs are available in both right-handed and left-handed models.

The men’s set runs from 4-iron to 9-iron, with pitching wedge, gap wedge, and sand wedge. The loft angle ranges from 22 degrees (4-iron) to 55 degrees (sand wedge), while the length runs from 38.75 inches (4-iron) to 35.5 inches (sand wedge). The 4-iron through pitching wedge can have a swing weight of D1 or D3, and the gap wedge and sand wedge can be D3 or D5. The lie angle ranges from 61 degrees to 64.5 degrees.

The women’s set includes the same clubs with the same loft range. The lengths are slightly shorter, ranging from 38 inches on the 4-iron to 34.25 inches on the sand wedge, and the lie angle runs from 60 degrees (4-iron) to 63.5 degrees (sand wedge). The swing weight of all clubs is C6, and while there are flex choices for the men’s clubs, the women’s stock flex is set. However, custom shafts are available for both men’s and women’s.

These clubs (4-iron through 9-iron and pitching, gap, sand, and lob wedge, plus a 3-iron for men, but not women) are for more advanced players who are seeking all-round excellent performance. The women’s clubs are available only in a right-handed model, but left-handed clubs are available for me in the 4-iron through sand wedge (not the lob wedge or 3-iron). The men’s loft ranges from 19 degrees to 59 degrees (3-iron to lob wedge), while the women’s ranges from 22 degrees to 59 degrees on the 4-iron through lob wedge. The men’s swing weight is D2 or D3 on the 3-iron through the pitching wedge and D4 or D5 for the other 3 wedges, while the women’s is C6 on the 4-iron through the pitching wedge, and C8 for the other wedges.

Incorporating a mix of muscle-back (short) and cavity-back (long) irons, this model of forged 1025 carbon steel clubs is designed for low handicap golfers who want to maximize workability and control. The clubs are available in 2- through 9-iron, with a pitching and gap wedge (the stock set has 3-iron through pitching wedge). The loft range is 19 degrees through 50 degrees on the full set, with lengths ranging from 39.50 inches to 35.5 inches. The swing weight is a uniform D3. The CB style clubs offer a left-handed model for the 3-iron through 6 iron, while the MB style clubs offer left-handed clubs for 7-iron through pitching wedge. All others are right-handed only.
