Ping G15 Irons

Ping G15- The G15 line from Ping is a set of golf clubs designed to bring improvement and consistency to a golfer's game. Ping is constantly making changes to continue making the best golf irons and with the Ping G15 you get just that. Ping G15!

Let's start this Ping G15 review by telling you that the standard Ping G15 irons include the 3-iron through the 9-iron, as well as pitching wedge. You can also order a Ping G15 utility, sand, and lob wedge to match your set of Ping G15 irons. In addition you can get a Ping G15 driver to match the irons! This article gives an overview of the Ping G15 line.

Ping G15 in Context

The G15 is one of seven lines of irons created by Ping. Like the Ping G10 and Faith (a line of clubs for women), the head material is 17-4 Stainless Steel. Also like these clubs, it is specifically designed for game improvement and is extremely forgiving. The Ping G15 also shares a thick topline, oversize clubhead, large offset, soft elastomer backweight, and medium-high trajectory with the Ping G10 and Ping Faith.

Their features set these three lines of clubs apart from the Ping K15, also designed for game improvement, and similar to the G15 in may ways, but having hybrid features; as well as the Ping i15 and Ping Anser, which are designed for competition, and the Ping S56, a line of tour irons. The competition lines differ in that they feature tungsten toe weights, have only moderate forgiveness, have a middling trajectory, a progressive, mid-size clubhead size, a medium topline, and low-medium or medium offset. The tour clubs are the Ping S56 are at the opposite end of the spectrum, being designed for maximum workability, a low trajectory, a compact clubhead with a narrow topline, firm elastomer back weights, and minimal offset.

Ping G15 Basics

The G15 is meant to help players attain consistency, and to this end, it features a redesigned Custom Tuning Port (CTP) in its cavity design. The CTP reshaPing and repositioning resulted in a weight saving of 7 grams, which was redistributed to the perimeter of the club (the toe, in particular) to increase the moment of inertia and provides solid support for the new, thinner face. Also new is a wider sole, designed to create a higher launch angle, and the increased loft and low center of gravity set farther from the face leads to longer shots.

The length of the G15 irons ranges from 38.75 inches for the 3-iron to 35.00 inches for the lob wedge. The loft starts at 20 degrees for the 3-iron, and increases to 64.50 degrees for the lob wedge. The offset ranges from .32 inches for the 3-iron to .10 inches for the lob wedge. The swing weight is D0 for the numbered irons, D2 for the Pitching Wedge and Utility Wedge, D4 for the Sand Wedge and D6 for the Lob Wedge. If a graphite shaft is chosen for the clubs, the swing weights are one point lighter.

Ping warns that counterfeit clubs and websites have been set up to lure customers, and offers advice to use the Ping.com website as the starting point for researching clubs and finding authorized retailers. This has been a constant problem for Ping golf clubs because of how good they are and how popular they are. Don't gamble and buy your set of Ping G15 irons from an unknown place, stick to a reputable golf club store.
